The national Gallery of Arts has a vivid role of preserving, exhibiting, fostering and collecting the unique arts of the past and where people can have high standards of understanding and maintains scholarly standards, the National gallery of arts is providing fellowship called Visiting Senior Fellowship Program under the USA government, these fellowships are of two types Paul Mellon and Ailsa Mellon Bruce.
These fellowships are given to support many PhD researches on the history, theory, and criticism of the arts like painting, sculpture, architecture, landscape architecture, urbanism, prints and drawings, film, photography, decorative arts, industrial design, and other arts of any area on earth and of any time, visiting senior fellowship applications are also solicited from scholars in other disciplines whose work examines artefacts or has implications for the analysis and criticism of visual form.

These scholarships are very few and are given based on the excellence in research on the arts subjects
Award of Scholarship
The center provides twelve short term ( each term is of 5 days ) visiting fellowships that is of 60 days of Paul Mellon and Ailsa Mellon Bruce fellowships annually, the stipends for the fellowship is given as $6000 to $8000 per months, on the persons request they may receive housing too.
Eligibility Criteria for Visiting Senior Fellowship Program USA 2020-21
The candidates should be old for PhD of 5 years minimum to apply, the candidate also can posses an equivalent accomplishment rather than PhD, Candidates affiliated currently to National gallery of arts are not eligible, this scholarship does not consider age or nationality of the candidate, outsiders who are scholars in arts and history will be remained as a selection committee.

The application procedure is purely of online, the candidate has to send a proposal of application and an article of the book before the deadline, two letters in support or the letters of recommendation are also to be pinned, procedure of appointment is same for the scholarship as that of others.
