The Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies which is based or resided in Geneva, Switzerland offers a fellowship program, which is open to academically excellent and outstanding young professors from universities hailed from developing and emerging countries of Africa, Asia, Latin America, the fellowships are offered to the students who are interested in pursuing advanced research in areas or fields of anthropology, history, law, politics and political science, and economics.

The Institute is provided with university professors, lecturers and researchers, and senior staff members from international organizations, with independent funding, keen to carry out research and take advantage of the resources and services the Institute has to offer and its unique location at the international Geneva.

Description

Courses offered
The graduate research institute offers a Ph.D. program for students of emerging and developing nations.

Fields of study
Fellowships are offered in the fields of international and development studies such as anthropology, history, law, politics and political science, and economics.

Value of award
Fellows who are selected will receive a stipend to compensate in the case of the loss of income, and living expenses, also cover costs of travel and visas for participants as well accommodation costs, and be provided with a workspace and access to the Institute’s library and IT facilities.

Eligibility criteria for Ph.D. Research Fellowships for Developing & Emerging Countries

Applying candidates must hold a full-time Ph.D. and have a tenured position as a young professor from an academic institution in Africa, Asia, or Latin America, applicants must be able to demonstrate how their research stay will contribute to their academic career and their home institution, The selection will be based on the quality of research that is no gender bias or regional diversity are shown while considering the research projects.

Target group
The Fellowship program is open to all outstanding young professors from universities in developing and emerging countries in Africa, Asia, or Latin America.

Application Procedure to Apply for Ph.D. Research Fellowships for Developing & Emerging Countries

Documents to be uploaded

  1. A letter of motivation describing the reasons behind the application, the preferred semester, the Institute’s discipline or area of expertise in which the candidate is interested,
  2. two courses the candidate would be interested to attend while at the Institute
  3. A detailed work plan related to the proposed activities that are to be completed during the candidate’s time at the Institute
  4. A curriculum vitae and a list of publications
  5. Two letters of recommendation
  6. A brief summary of the research project at the Graduate Institute
  7. A letter of support from the candidate’s home institution (or supervisor
  8. A passport copy
