The Japanese Government’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) offers international students scholarships for academic study in Japan to international students under the MEXT Scholarship Program 2024. The purpose of these scholarships is to promote mutual understanding and deepen friendly ties between Japan and other countries.
Japanese Government International Scholarship Award Value
An awardee will get a monthly with min.143,000 yen & an extra 2,000 or 3,000 yen as a stipend to those undertaking Study/Research in specially designated regions.
List of Scholarships under MEXT Program 2024 – Qualification
MEXT Research Student Scholarship 2024
The International Scholarship award announced for Research studies in Research Student / Master’s Degree they should have qualified with minimum 65% marks should obtain their mark sheet and degree, and the Ph.D. Degree students will have a Master’s degree in the relevant field with a minimum of 65% marks.
The Research Student/Master’s degree in Japanese Language students will have Bachelor’s degree / Master’s degree course in the Japanese Language from a recognized university or Bachelor’s degree course in any subject from a recognized university and obtained an N2 Certificate of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) conducted by the Japan Foundation.
The Students who have to wish to apply for a Ph.D. degree in Japanese Language must have completed a Master’s degree course in Japanese Language from a recognized university, the Management course candidates will have a GMAT score of 650 with a Bachelor’s Degree are eligible.

MEXT Undergraduate Student Scholarship 2024
The Students who are Undergraduate level leading to Bachelors Degree the Social Sciences and Humanities and Natural Science Students who have academic ability equal to that of a high school graduate are eligible.
MEXT College of Technology Student Scholarship 2024
The Undergraduate level leads to Associate Degree (Diploma) students of Mechanical Engg, Electrical and Electronics Engg, Information, Communication & Network Engg, Material Engg, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Maritime Engg and other students who have academic ability equal to that of a high school graduate are eligible.
MEXT Specialised Training College (Senshu-gakko) Student Scholarship 2024
The Undergraduate level leads to Certificate students who are Technology, Personal Care and Nutrition, Education and Welfare, Business, Fashion, and Home Economics, Cultural and General Education, Other Fields they must have academic ability equal to that of a high school graduate are eligible.
MEXT Japanese Studies Student Scholarship 2024
The Undergraduate level leads to Certificate students who are enrolled as undergraduates in japans universities being eligible.
MEXT Young Leaders’ Program Student Scholarship 2024
The Master’s Degree course students who are in (1) Public Administration, (2) Local Governance, (3) Law, (4) Business Administration, the student’s Government officials for (1), (2), (3) and University graduates with 3 or 4 years of work experience for (3), (4) are eligible for MEXT YLP Scholarship 2024.
MEXT Teacher Training Student Scholarship 2024
The Teacher Training Students will study the Undergraduate level leading to Certificate course Applicants who worked as teachers in primary or secondary schools for at least 5 years are eligible.
