Amsterdam Merit Scholarships (AMS) for International Students are offered by the University of Amsterdam and are targeted toward highly talented students of non-EU/EEA regions that are outstanding meritorious students from outside the European Economic Area can apply for an Amsterdam Merit Scholarship.

The idea of the University of Amsterdam scholarships is to offer talented and hard-working non-EU/EEA students an opportunity to pursue a degree in one of the academic fields covered by the University, the only selection criteria to award scholarships are academic merits and results.

About the award

Courses offered
Amsterdam Merit Scholarships are offered to pursue a Master’s degree course from the University of Amsterdam, the number of scholarships offered is 15.

Fields of study
A Master’s degree is offered in the fields of Child Development and Education, Communication, Economics and Business, Humanities, Law, Medine, Psychology, Science, and Social Sciences for a period of two years.

Value of award
the selected candidate should pay the tuition fees where the scholarship amounts between €2,000 and €12,000, The scholarship will only be continued for the second year if the AES student has completed all courses of the first year on time and with a grade point average of 8.0.

Target group
Candidates from the international arena with all necessary requirements are eligible to apply for a scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria For Amsterdam Merit Scholarships (AMS) For International Students

Applying candidates should meet the necessary requirements to apply for the scholarships, where the applicants should not be entitled to receive a Dutch study grant or loan prior to applying, any applicants are not eligible to pay the reduced tuition fee rate for EEA students at the University of Amsterdam.

The applicants will not receive a full coverage scholarship for the same period of study as the AMS scholarship, applicants must have submitted a completely filled application to one of the Master’s programs offered by the University, selected candidates will be admitted to one of the Master’s programs of the university, should be able to demonstrate or comply with the conditions to obtain a Dutch visa.

Application Procedure To Apply For Amsterdam Merit Scholarships (AMS) For International Students

Documents to be submitted

1. academic excellence and promise in the proposed field
2. evidence of academic records
3. letters of recommendation
4. written work and/or publications and
5. proposed research questions
6.  letter of motivation

Applicants should submit the application for the Master’s program of their choice, along with all required documents including a valid language test score, candidates will receive their UvA student number and master application file number, with them the applicant should fill out and submit the application form for the Amsterdam Merit Scholarship within due time.
