New Zealand Government has introduced a new scholarship programme i.e Prime Minister’s Scholarship to promote educational co-operation with Latin America, The Prime Minister’s Scholarship programme for international study will be extended to Latin America, Tertiary Education, Skills and Employment Minister Steven Joyce announced this week. The scholarship aims to strengthen New Zealand institutions’ connections with their counterparts in key Latin America countries, promote understanding of the strength and quality of New Zealand’s education system and raise awareness in Latin America of New Zealand as a preferred education destination.
New Zealand Prime Ministers Scholarship 2018 Award Benefits
The PM Scholarships are available to undertake at least 4 weeks up to a maximum of 2 years study or research in Latin America, Selected students get award benefits include.
- Tuition fees of Latin American institutions only – not NZ fees
- Brokerage fees of Internship providers
- Up to NZ$3,500 for return economy class flights NZ-Latin America
- Contribution towards living and accommodation costs of $250 for each week actively on program in Latin America (if not covered by the internship brokerage fee)
- Medical and travel insurance (mandatory – see website for types of acceptable cover)
- Visa fees up to a maximum of $200
New Zealand Prime Ministers Scholarship 2018 Eligibility Criteria
Applicant must be citizen of New Zealand or Permanent resident holders of minimum 2 years, Applicants from outside the home country will often need to meet specific English language/other language requirements in order to be able to study there.

All the eligible applicants can apply for New Zealand Prime Minister’s Scholarship 2018 through online from official website by follow the guidelines and submit your application on or before deadline.
Students will be selected based on academic merit in their studies, Preference is currently for applicants undertaking appropriate programs in Colombia and Brazil, Other Latin American countries such as Mexico, Chile, Argentina, and Peru are also included. Individuals or groups may check with ENZ if preferred destination institution is not listed as having a formal relationship with a New Zealand institution.
