The Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Academy of Society have started a fund called Gandhi smarak Nidhi for the development of higher education in east Africa, this is funded by Government of India and three East African colonies, the scholarships are provided by the university of Nairobi, The aim of the scholarship is to assist the students of Kenya who are interested in pursuing post graduation degree or Master’s degree from the university, the funds of the scholarship is provided for one year where the candidate can re-apply for the extension of the funds for further years.
The university of Nairobi provides scholarships for the courses of post graduation or Master’s degree, Number of scholarships are not specified.

Stipend and duration:
The University of Nairobi offers scholarship in the form of bursaries and partial scholarships to build the capacity of trained personnel in the country as well as a gold medal to the overall best student in the University and a yearly monetary price to the best student in each faculty/school/institute.

The following are the criteria an applicant must be possessed in order to be eligible for scholarship, Applying candidates must have attained at least an Upper Second Class Honours or its equivalent at Bachelors level,The candidate must receive an offer from the university before the candidate apply for the scholarship,Scrutiny of the applications and the selection will be completely based on merit.
Candidate who are permanent residents of countries in East Africa with all necessary requirements are eligible to apply for the scholarship.

The applying candidate should make a payment of a non-refundable application fee of Kenya shillings two
thousand only either through account number that is generated by the system for every applicant, every year before the start of admissions the university releases the notification in local print media.
