The Simons Foundation IMU-Simons African Fellowship Program provides scholarship to the students who are interested in pursuing research work in the field of Mathematics and basic sciences, the applying candidates should have their base in one of the developing countries in Africa, it is a fully funded scholarship. Candidate should already be employed in an institution or university as a faculty, the selected candidate is supported activities include research travel and conference grants, as well as volunteer lectures, joint research projects and donations from the Foundation.

Award:
The award is given to the selected students who are interested in pursuing research work in the field of Mathematics and basic sciences, Number of scholarships are not specified.

Value of award:
The selected candidate will be offered USD 5,000 which include accommodation, living expenses or any other costs involved in undertaking study.

Eligibility criteria for Simons Foundation IMU-Simons African Fellowship Program 2024-25

The following are the criteria that the contesting candidate should possess to apply for Simons Foundation IMU-Simons African Fellowship Program in USA- 2024, According to IMU Developing countries are those whose GNI is less than 11000 USD.

Educational qualification:

  • Applying candidate should hold a valid doctoral degree (PhD) in mathematics.
  • Candidate has to be employed as a mathematician in a faculty of a university or an equivalent higher education institution.

Age limit:
No age limit is prescribed in the application form candidates should go through the notification before applying.

Nationality
The students from Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cape Verde, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Ivory Coast, Congo (D.R. of the), Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Swaziland, Togo, Tunisia, U.R. of Tanzania: Mainland, Uganda, Zambia, Zanzibar and Zimbabwe.with all eligible criteria are eligible to apply for the scholarship. No nationality restriction.

  2. detailed Research plan.
  3. invitation letter by the host institution.
  4. letter by the home institution.
