The government of India is offering scholarships under General Scholarship Scheme (GSS) for undergraduate, postgraduate, and research programs at Indian universities. Scholarships for students in the field of medical studies for MBBS, BDS, or for medical research leading to a Ph.D. degree are not offered under the GSS scheme, as a mode of instruction in Indian universities is English, so the candidates should have good proficiency in the language, General Scholarship Scheme (GSS) is provided to the foreign students under ICCR norms.

The Government of India offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate, M.Phil. or Ph.D., Post-doctoral Fellowship courses under the scheme, Number of fellowships is not specified.

Field of study:
Scholarships are available to candidates in any of the courses offered by the university, except in the Medical stream.

Stipend and duration:
The selected candidate will be given a grant that includes a living Allowance Per Month, a House Rent Allowance, a Contingent Grant per annum, thesis and dissertation expenses for once in the entire duration, and of course, medical Benefits where all the above stipends are different for different courses.

The Application Process to Apply for General Scholarship Scheme GSS 2024-25 in India

Attachments to be submitted:

1. recent passport size photographs
2. Academic transcripts till the degree are required
3. Summary of the proposed area of research
4. Video/ audio cassettes of students wishing to study performing Arts are to be enclosed
5. Copies of Physical fitness
6. letters of recommendation
