The DAAD-CARTA offers the scholarships to develop their knowledge under the PhD level programme, number of scholarships are limited.

The long-term impacts of the scholarships are strengthening teaching and research at higher education institutions in Eastern Africa region, solving development issues in the region and strengthening universities, research institutes and research networks in Eastern Africa, and contributing to the establishment of regional networks between these institutions.

Value of Award
selected students will receive a scholarship which include the cost if living and accommodation, university registration, tuition fee and also funds for the cost of research, it offers the health insurance and optional research to stay in Germany upto six months.
Eligibility Criteria for DAAD-CARTA PhD Scholarships 2019, East African Scholars
The candidates should meet requirements to apply for scholarship, where the candidates must give the strong commitment towards their capability and potential for their research, the last degree of the applicant should be completed less than six years ago before applying Scholarships, the candidate should be the citizen of a country that are mentioned above, the applicant should be freshmen to take the PhD programme, the candidate from the non-English speaking countries must meet the requirements of the English language to ensure the admission.
