University Grant Commission (UGC) introduced Post-Graduate Merit Scholarship scheme for University Under Graduate Rank Holders. The scholarship is applicable for only PG courses. Scholarships will be available for only first rank holders in the Universities. The main objective of the scholarship is to strengthen higher education system in the country. The purpose of this scheme is to attract talent for pursuing post graduate studies besides strengthening the basic subjects at Undergraduate level. The awardees, under this scheme, can pursue their Postgraduate programme in any area of specialization in any institution of higher learning in the country.

Scholarship Details
Selected students will receive scholarship for a period of 2 years. The scholarship will be applicable for all Universities. Each University one person will be selected for the scholarship.
Eligibility Criteria for UGC Post-Graduate Merit Scholarship 2024-25
Scholarship is open to Indian national. Applicant should hold Bachelor degree BA, B.Com, B.Sc……. in any of the University. Scholarship will be eligible to any of the Under graduate holders. Applicants who are pursuing Post Graduation courses in any of the University and who got first rank in Under Graduation courses are eligible to the scholarship. Applicants who are receiving any other scholarships will not be eligible.
Supporting Documentation for Application Process
- The candidate is required to submit an application in the prescribed format.
- Attested copy of university undergraduate-degree.
- Matriculation certificate.
- A verification certificate by the institute where, students has taken admission to Ist Year P.G. Course
- Prescribed format of provisional Rank certificate from the university / autonomous college
Certificate to be submitted by the concerned University/ Institution to the UGC. Every year University/Institution will submit a compiled statement for the following:
- Statement giving the names of the students selected for the scholarship along with their receipt of scholarship amount.
- Progress Report to be submitted after the first year of the award giving percentage of marks obtained by the candidates.
- Utilization certificate.
