The Leiden University Excellence Scholarship Programme (LExS) is offering Scholarships for all Master’s Degree courses in MA, MSc and LL.M programmes. The scholarships will be available for the September and February sessions of each academic year.
Scholarship awards are not fixed they will vary based on department funds. Students who are granted a Leiden Excellence Scholarship must comply with and confirm in writing their agreement with the Rules and Regulations attached to the scholarship prior to the granting of the scholarship.
Value of Scholarship
The Leiden University Excellence Scholarship 2024 programme has 3 awards:
- € 10.000 of the tuition fee
- € 15.000 of the tuition fee
- Total tuition fee minus the statutory tuition fee
The LExS is only valid for the period the student is registered at Leiden University as a full-time student within the time frame of the study programme.

Leiden University Excellence Scholarships (LexS) 2024 Eligibility Criteria
Non-EU/EEA students who are enrolled for September and February academic sessions for master’s courses at Leiden University are eligible to apply for the scholarships.
Candidates should be excellent in their academics. The applicant will hold a non-EU/EEA passport and will not be eligible for support under the Dutch system of study grants and loans. Scholarships will not be awarded to applicants who have already obtained a Leiden University master’s degree with the exception of students applying for a Master’s programme for which a specified previous Master’s programme or work experience is mandatory.

All the eligible candidates need to apply online mode through Leiden University’s official website http://prospectivestudents.leiden.edu, at the time of Admission candidates need to apply for LExS Scholarship by uploading candidates motivation letter for the LExS scholarship on the scholarship page.
