The Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program provides scholarships to women and men Japanese nationals who are interesting in pursuing two-year development-related master’s or Ph.D. graduate programs outside of Japan.
The students are selected based on their dedication towards the alleviation of poverty and enhanced prosperity in developing countries, After pursuing their degree, Japanese scholars are expected to advance their professional careers with a keen focus on the alleviation of poverty and enhanced shared prosperity in developing countries. Applicants candidates should be enrolled or interested in enrolling in development-related poverty alleviation education.
Award:
The award is given to the selected students who are interested in pursuing a two-year development-related master’s or Ph.D. graduate program outside of Japan.
Value of award:
The value of the scholarship includes tuition fees as a monthly allowance and also gives medical expenses, accommodation, and travel charges, where travel charges will receive the US $500.

Eligibility Criteria for The Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program 2024-25
The following are the criteria that the contesting candidate should possess to apply for The Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program- 2024-25, Applying candidate should be interested in accepting or currently enrolled in a graduate program focused on poverty alleviation and shared prosperity in developing countries.
Educational qualification:
- Candidate must hold a Bachelor’s or its equivalent degree earned at least 3 years.
- Candidate should have 3 years or more of recent development-related experience after earning a Bachelor’s or its equivalent degree
- Be accepted unconditionally to enroll in the upcoming academic year in at least one of the JJWBGSP Preferred or Partner master’s degree programs;
Age limit:
Candidates under the age of 45 as prescribed in the application form candidates should go through the notification before applying.
Nationality
The men and women from Japan with all eligible criteria are eligible to apply for the scholarship, with no nationality restriction.

- curriculum vitae
- proof of employment since pursuing a Bachelor’s degree
- certified copy of graduation or its equivalent from an accredited university,
- Four letters of recommendation from two professionals and two professors
